San Ignacio: Hikes
There are many hikes in the area, offering a variety of mileage and destinations. We chose multiple short hikes as it was frequently dumping rain. Raincoats highly advised along with a towel to dry off with in the car.
We stuck close to San Ignacio primarily in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest area to keep it simple and limit driving. There were quite a few hikes we originally planned but had to scrap due to heavy rain and/or impassable roads.
With more time we would have liked to explore trails off the Hummingbird highway and the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. Guess we’ll just have to return!

Big Rock Falls
A short and steep hike to a waterfall and swimming pool.

Black Rock Lodge Summit
A moderately steep jungle hike to an overlook.

Rio On Pools
A short hike to swimming pools, if it hasn’t flooded out with heavy rain.
